Me, Myself and I
As you may have guessed from my use of the word "I" instead of "we" all over this site, catrr is a one-man operation. I'm very proud of that fact, so I don't try to make catrr sound bigger than it is.
The truth is, there are lots of advantages to being big; but there are also lots of advantages in being small. Like being able to keep an accurate pulse on customers' sentiments on your product, being able to make decisions and changes quickly without having to go through red tape, and having a good understanding of all aspects of the business.
It's ironic that so many small businesses try to look bigger, and most big businesses try to look smaller. Small businesses hide the fact that they are small by having ultra-fancy web sites and dozens of email addresses that all go to one or two people. Big businesses try to convince the public that they are smaller by offering personalized customer service and by training their employees to answer the phone with a 20-second canned spiel.
I was taught early on to seize every advantage I have and to compete on my strengths, not on that of my competitors. So I will take full advantage of the fact that my customers have only one person to deal with for tech-support, customer service, billing, etc.
That's not to say that I don't want to grow. I can't wait until the day when I have to hire people to keep up with the demands of my customers! And when that day comes, I will seize the advantages that being a two (or three, or four) person operation provide.
One thing is for certain: my customers will always be king.
